Region's hoteliers head to new openings on Abu Dhabi's Yas Island.

Aldar Hospitality is working in conjunction with a number of hotel companies across the region to help find jobs for hospitality staff that have been made redundant as a result of the current economic climate, according to managing director Paul Bell.

Having also initiated overseas recruitment drives in the wider GCC, the Far East and North Africa, Bell acknowledged market conditions outside Abu Dhabi had been more challenging.

“It is inevitable staff will look to new hotel openings in a market that is navigating this difficult period with greater ease for stability and job security as well as career development opportunities,” he explained.

Following a reported influx of hoteliers from Dubai to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, Bell insisted employee packages offered at The Yas Hotel were in line with the market.

“The Yas Island hotels are managed by a number of operators and brands with their own salary and benefits scales — the decisions on individual positions and remuneration are taken by the operator in the best interests of the particular hotel.

“The operators have also had the opportunity to transfer staff to the new Yas Island properties from existing hotels in the region, which has helped them retain talented staff which might otherwise have not been possible. At The Yas Hotel, our packages are not significantly above the market average,” he added.
