St. Paul’s Chapel is built with brownstone quoins. The chapel has much similarity with Georgian churches like James Gibbs’ London church of St Martin-in-the-Fields. In fact the chapel was modeled after this church. The octagonal tower has a square base. The replica of Choragic Monument of Lysicrates sits on top of the chapel. The chapel features a classical entrance.
The interior of the chapel has a flat ceiling, pale colors and cut glass chandeliers. It lacks the stunning interior of the Trinity Church. The hall of St. Paul’s Chapel is rather given a comfortable and cozy touch in order to encourage more attendance.

You can find the oak wood statue of Saint Paul on the Broadway side of the chapel. The statue reflects American Primitive style. Just below the chapel’s east window you can find the monument to Brigadier General Richard Montgomery who died during the American Revolutionary War.

African Burial Ground

In 1991, workers excavating a space in Lower Manhattan for a new office building just north of City Hall discovered some skeletons. It soon turned out that what they had found was a secret burial ground for freed and enslaved African Americans. More than 400 people had been buried in the area, which was subsequently covered by landfill and forgotten about, over a period of approximately 100 years starting in the late 17th century. The monument and museum erected at the site of the excavation memorizes the discovery of the bodies, and the fight of New York’s African American communities to keep this site as a memorial rather than losing it to yet another office block. The Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is ranked 39 out of 342 attractions in Los Angoles. In 1968, it was declared the historic landmark of culture. Design

Mever and Holler was the architectural firm that planned and designed the theater. The most important feature of the theater, which draws the visitor’s attraction, is the pagoda like structure that bears interesting designs of dragons and lions, symbolical of the Chinese culture. The interior of the theater is decorated with a dazzling blur of exotic Asian motifs. In the lobby one can find murals, bold red and gold columns and an intricate Chinese chandelier, which increases the exoticness of the design. In the vast auditorium, there is a spectacular chandelier illuminating the centre of a mammoth, ornate starburst, encircled by small dragons and ring of icons portraying scenes of Chinese drama. Smaller oriental lamps, hanging between intricately-shaped stone columns are something worth seeing.

Events and the History

Though declared defunct during the war years, the festival was resumed with even more pomp and show in 1946; more so, because the festival had started grabbing the attention of travellers from across the globe. In the year 1955, the organization authority was taken over by the non-profit organization Greater Anchorage Inc. Though held for ten days at a stretch, since 2004, the festival continues till early March till the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
