Connecticut is the name of the state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. The neighboring areas include the Rhode Islands in the east, New York to the west and the south, and Massachusetts to the north. Named after the Connecticut River, one of the major rivers in the United States, which also bisect the state, much of the western and the southern part of the state is part of the New York metropolitan area.
