Delaware United States
Delaware is a state situated in the Mid-Atlantic zone of the United States. The state is surrounded by New Jersey in the northeast, Maryland in the south and Pennsylvania in the north. Delaware enjoys a good location being in the northeastern side of
the Delmarva Peninsula. It is one of the most densely populated states in the United States. The state of Delaware covers an area of 1,954 square miles or 5,060 square kilometers. The Delaware River lies to the east of the state. The northern boundary between Delaware and Pennsylvania is known as the Twelve-Mile Circle. This is the singular circular state boundary in the entire United States.
Delaware is level plain in topography. The highest elevation of the state rises to a height of 140 meters above the sea level and is located at Ebright Azimuth. The northern portion of the state has small mountains rolling down which makes it appear beautiful. Delaware enjoys moderate climate since it has the effect of the ocean. The climate in the southern portion of the state enjoys a better climate than the northern portion. The growing season is long in the south than in the north. The highest temperature recorded in Delaware was 43 degrees Celsius during the month of July and the lowest record was -27 degree Celsius during the month of January.
The biggest landmark of Delaware is the Delaware Memorial Bridge, which is a twin span suspension bridge. Delaware has quite a few beach resorts which include South Bethany, Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach and Lewes. The major beach in Delaware
is the Rehoboth Beach. The Rehoboth Beach is a popular summer vacation destination for the people from Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. The beach is often referred to as the ‘Summer Capital’ of the nation. Delaware is also famous for tax free shopping which the visitors immensely enjoy. There are several self-catering cottages in and around the beach where you can stay for a couple of days and enjoy the summer.
Delaware though is a small state is pulsating with life. It is home to many events, festivals and fairs. Some of the popular festivals include The World Championship Punkin Chunkin, Riverfest held in Seaford and the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival. Others include Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral, Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival, Sea Witch Halloween Festival, Apple Scrapple Festival, the Nanticoke Indian Pow Wow in Oak Orchard, Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival and the Return Day Parade.
