Khanpur Pakistan


Khanpur is one of the oldest and beautiful city of Punjab provinces, Pakistan. Old market areas are a major evidence of the old saga of this city.  It has a population of 0.1 million, and in terms of area, it is one of the largest city of Khanpur PakistanRahim Yar Khan district. Khanpur is agriculturally an economic influx as a center for cotton and sugarcane. This city also known as “Khanpur Katora”, and it had the status of district until 1938. Famous religious personalities related to this city, and their shrines and tombs are major landmarks of Khanpur. Through “Shahi Road” Khanpur linked with Liaquat Pur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. This city is distinguished nationwide for its bowl makers, and sweets. Cholistan Dessert is mainly located in the Khanpur area.

Khanpur PakistanChachran Sharif: It is a chronological town, located at the east bank of Indus River, in Khanpur. This region attributed with name of famous poet and Saint Khawaja Ghulam Fareed. A steel pontoon bridge built here for the ease of thousands of people, and people use ferries and boats to cross the river. A famous old building“Minchan Bund”, built in eighteenth century is an eminent landmark of this town. The building structure is a blend of old traditional touch and modern form of Pakistani architecture.

Maulana Siraj Ahmed Shrine: It is a famous shrine of “Maulana Siraj Ahmed Makhan Brelvi”, he had also built a huge mosque in Khanpur, named Jamia Sirah-ul-Uloom. This shrine is located in Jatki Basti, and visited by a large number of pilgrims daily.

Islam Garh Fort: Formerly known as “Bhinwar Fort”, built in 1665. This fort is located in the Cholistan area of Khanpur, and from the Baghla Fort, the distance of this fort is 46 km in southeast.

Pattan Minara: They are the leftovers, illustrated as the remains of Ashoka period, construct in 250 BC. Nearby this tower, remains of a fort, a mosque and some tunnels also found. About 110 years ago the excavation of these tunnels started, and according to archeologists, this site was the capital of Hindu kingdom in 10 AD.

Mosque of Bhong: It is the most beautiful mosque in the city, constructed by a big property owner of Bhong. It has beautiful designs of art and craft, with numerous kinds and colors of marble stones in it. Being a worth seeing religious spot, visitors from far off places visit it regularly.
